Trusts
A trust is a legal instrument involving a donor, a trustee, and a charitable organization. The trustee receives the gifted assets, manages them, and distributes them. These activities are carried out according to the terms of the trust agreement.
Charitable trusts ultimately benefit churches, schools, institutions, and nonprofit organizations that rely upon contributions from donors. Some charitable trusts can be structured so that the donor receives distributions before the gift passes to charity. Because Legacy Deo is organized as a 501(c)(3), amounts contributed to charitable trusts are tax deductible by the donor to the extent allowed by law. We currently manage more than 100 trusts that benefit our donors with tax deductions and reliable income. These features make charitable trusts an excellent tool when planning for income taxes, retirement, and disposition of an estate.
Trusts can be structured in a variety of ways. Continue reading for more information on the types of trusts we offer. The minimum amount to establish a Charitable Lead Trust with us is $50,000. All others require a minimum of $25,000.
